Don't let osteopenia or osteoporosis dictate your active future. Onero™ is the only program clinically proven to increase bone mineral density and protect your independence, delivered under 100% physiotherapist supervision in Kew.
*Currently supporting 30+ active participants weekly at our Kew clinic.
Bone density starts declining in our 40s, with menopause accelerating this loss. Unfortunately, most women are diagnosed late—often only after a routine scan in their late 60s, or worse, after sustaining a minimal trauma fracture.
While walking and swimming are excellent for cardiovascular fitness and general joint mobility, clinical research indicates they are not sufficient to actively rebuild bone mineral density once bone loss has commenced. To stimulate new osteoblasts (bone-building cells), your bones require targeted, progressive resistance training.
Onero™ was developed specifically to bridge this gap. Derived from the landmark LIFTMOR clinical trial conducted at Griffith University, it utilizes supervised, high-intensity resistance and impact training to safely stimulate bone remodeling, increase muscle mass, and improve balance.
A DEXA scan measures your bone mineral density compared to a healthy young adult. This comparison is expressed as a T-Score.
Use our interactive slider to see where your bone health stands and discover exactly how the Onero™ program can support you.
MEDICARE REBATE NOTE
DEXA scans are heavily subsidized by Medicare in Australia if you are over 70, have a history of minimal trauma fractures, or present specific clinical risk factors.
CLINICAL PATH:
The Only Evidence-BasedUnlike generic exercise classes, Onero™ is a licensed program backed by rigorous, peer-reviewed clinical research. It is officially endorsed by Healthy Bones Australia and recommended in clinical standards.
Bone is dynamic, living tissue that constantly remodels in response to physical stress. Onero™ applies a safe, controlled amount of mechanical loading to your skeletal system, signaling your body to deposit calcium and strengthen the bone micro-architecture.
The idea of progressive weight lifting can feel intimidating, especially if you have been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis. We understand that concern completely.
That is why Onero™ at Restore Physio is completely different from a gym. You will never be left to figure things out on your own. Every single movement is supervised, corrected, and supported by a university-qualified clinical physiotherapist.
Before lifting a single weight, we evaluate your balance, muscle strength, and fracture risk to customize the program specifically to your body.
We start very light, perfecting your movement patterns and posture. We only increase the resistance when you are completely ready.
Restore Physiotherapy is located on the ground floor at 260 High Street, Kew, with parking nearby (please note there are stairs at the clinic entrance).
We hold a dedicated territory license for Onero™, making our clinic the primary evidence-based bone health hub for Kew and surrounding suburbs:
Onero™ classes run throughout the week. Group sizes are strictly limited. Booking an assessment is required.
Bone remodeling is a biological process that takes time. Onero™ is designed as a structured journey to ensure safe and sustainable density improvements.
Bone mineral density is dynamic, but it remodels slowly. Clinical research shows that it takes approximately 12 months of consistent, twice-weekly supervised Onero™ sessions to demonstrate measurable increases in bone mineral density on a follow-up DEXA scan.
During the first few months, the focus is on developing perfect lifting mechanics, improving balance, and building the muscular support system. These neurological and muscular adaptations happen quickly, significantly reducing fall risk long before the 12-month DEXA scan confirms your new, denser bone structure.
Everything you need to know about Onero™ at Restore Physio.
Onero™ is an evidence-based, high-intensity resistance and impact exercise program specifically designed to strengthen bone and muscle in people at risk of osteoporotic fracture. It was developed from the landmark LIFTMOR study conducted at Griffith University and is the only program of its kind officially endorsed by Healthy Bones Australia.
Yes, Onero™ is highly safe. Because every class is strictly supervised by a licensed physiotherapist, we ensure that every movement, lift, and impact exercise is adapted and scaled to your specific T-Score, fracture history, and physical capacity. We focus on perfect posture and controlled execution.
The clinical trial protocol requires attending classes twice a week. Each class is approximately 45 to 60 minutes long, making it highly manageable to fit into a busy lifestyle while still achieving clinically significant bone-building results.
No, you do not need a GP referral to start the program as a private patient. However, if you have a recent DEXA scan report, please bring it to your initial assessment. If you are eligible for a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly EPC) from your GP, you may receive a Medicare rebate for your initial physiotherapy assessment.
